Fendi Fall Couture Fashion Show 2016

I have a confession. I'm a bit of a fashion nerd. That doesn't mean I have any actual knowledge of any actual fashion but I like to keep up to date with what's going on. I hate admitting it but I watch Project Runway a lot. I stalk vogue during fashion week. Every fashion week. I don't know what it is but I love checking fashion shows out. I don't always have the time for it but when I do it's like a magical wonderland for me.

However, I really didn't want to do a fashion blog post though because I'm me and I have no actual knowledge on anything fashion. All I know is what I like and what looks great to me. This was my thoughts during New York Fashion Week. I was like no Emma shut up no one cares about your opinion on fashion that's stupid. And let me tell you there were some good ones there! (I especially liked the Marchesa show) So now that we're in Paris Fashion week I thought 'RIGHT. Emma you need to suck it up. You were an art student you somewhat know what the hell you're doing.' And decided to write a blog post on a fashion show I really liked.

Mr. Lagerfeld does not disappoint when it comes to a saucy fashion show and Fendi's Fall Couture Fashion Show 2016 definitely did not disappoint. I mean if you're renting out the Trevi Fountain could it ever? Good thing I'm not a model because I would have fallen in.

I know everyone has been a little bit more wary of this show because of the Trevi Fountain but what drew me in was the use of colour. I do like when there is a theme of colour in a show. I feel as if it flows nicer to the eyes. That being said, some part of me also begs for great use of colour. I want a show FULL of colour. Every colour. Throw it in. Make more colours, I don't care. Just make it pop and drag me in.

To me, it was a show of irony. The whole show managed to compile different items of clothing that look vastly different yet terribly (in the best way) similar. The clothes looked edgy yet elegant at the same time. They were dark and mysterious but also very bright.

The show hashtag was #legendsandfairytales which is probably why it was strikingly elegant with a bit of an edge as well. Fur, flowers and texture were a theme running through the show for sure. As well as a lot of sheer. Some of the clothes went from a daring pumped up fur overcoat to a simple gown. I loved how there was an ethereal element to the show yet there was a certain boldness to it.

I definitely preferred some of the floatier pieces. They did a really good job of combining a smooth flowy dress with a bangin' print.

There was a progression throughout the whole show. The beginning started off rather pure, using lighter shades of colour, rather light dresses, as well as the use of sheer pieces. It was all very airy fairy and as the show progressed, the pieces got darker, a little more flamboyant and much more pointed. I didn't love the shoes though. They looked vastly similar to boots (or maybe they were and I just can't tell) and I just wasn't into it. I would have preferred a heel.

All in all the Fendi Fall Couture collection was very much a stand out in the crowd. It was so great it was hard not to do a blog post on it. I also really liked the Elie Saab and the Giambattista Valli Fall 2016 Couture Collection. (Who doesn't love them some couture?) I hope you reading this enjoyed!
Much Love
