What's in my Holiday Bag?

Image
I am utterly and completely a 'maximalist'. I have no concept of minimalism unless we're talking about studying. I am a maximalist in all aspects of life. Shopping, eating, drinking cocktails - everything. I do everything in full. Including going on holiday and packing a carry bag. You gotta make sure you have all the necessities. Because the last thing you want to happen is to take "a nice walk along the beach before going back to the hotel" and be dying of thirst. And also I am so nosey all the time and I love watching/reading 'What's in my Bags'. This bag is the cheapest thing ever from K-mart. I was going on a beach holiday and so the last thing I wanted was to bring an expensive bag, get sand amongst it and then cry. This bag was $15 from K-Mart! And also it's one of those bags where it's never-ending and no matter what I stuff in there, there's still enough room. Because you know, I'm a maximalist. First things fi...

My Fave Fashion Shows

Image
I've been keeping up with a couple of the really bangin fashion shows lately. Literally there were so many bloody great fashion shows that I had to pick some of my favourites. And I thought I would share some of my thoughts! Disclaimer: not a fashion expert, just your resident shopaholic. Giambattista Valli  I mean wow. Valli really put together a very diverse collection. The combination of billowy shapes and cocktail length dresses, makes it a workable collection. And you know me, always drawn towards a billowy, overflowing dress and a good plunging neckline. The colour palette went from yellows and lighter colours to darker wines. More diversity also stemmed from the materials. There was tulle, chiffon, silk, lace. All around just such a wicked collection full of elegant gowns to sexy little numbers. Fendi Talk about an innovative collection! Never in a million years did I think that you would be able to build a collection on floral inspiration. Mr. Lagerfeld did a beauti...

The Mason Margiela Spring 2017 Couture

Image
This is going to be the shortest blog post ever because I just want to check in and rant about how I loved this recent collection.  The Mason Margiela Couture show was so extravagant that I had friends who weren't even interested in fashion text me about some of these outfits. Talk about a picturistic fashion show! I didn't want to stop looking at the clothes because they were just so spectacular. I feel as if this collection was a merge of the millennial world with the 1960-70's. The silhouette of many of the pieces are very old school and then they've been slapped in the face with typical 21st century motifs, such as emoji faces. I love that this collection mostly uses primary colours and black and white. The limited use of colour in contrast with the textures of the designs made the collection stand out.  Somehow Mr. Margiela managed to make this collection look both structured and flowy at the same time. Which I think is my business woman dream. If I ev...

Marchesa New York Spring/Summer Ready to Wear 2017 // NYFW

Image
My excuse as to why this post is a month after Fashion Week: I went away for a week and then I came back and I was swarmed with like a million assignments and was like ah. But I'm back now yay!  ANYWAYS, back to fashion. I love Marchesa. Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig are geniuses and everything they create is just magical. I got a very ethereal vibe from this collection. I found myself feeling like I was in a dream but it also felt slightly grunge.  The story I (as in, my opinion which is subject to be wrong so don't take my word for it, haha), got from this collection was the main character from a book going into an adventure and turning bad even though they still had some little bouts of good in them. You can see this through the progression of looks going through. It goes from being very light, airy and flowy to something very 'fairy-princess gone bad', with the darker fabrics. The whole collection is very flowy. The fabrics all flow and dance when th...

Fendi Fall Couture Fashion Show 2016

Image
I have a confession. I'm a bit of a fashion nerd. That doesn't mean I have any actual knowledge of any actual fashion but I like to keep up to date with what's going on. I hate admitting it but I watch Project Runway a lot. I stalk vogue during fashion week. Every fashion week. I don't know what it is but I love checking fashion shows out. I don't always have the time for it but when I do it's like a magical wonderland for me. However, I really didn't want to do a fashion blog post though because I'm me and I have no actual knowledge on anything fashion. All I know is what I like and what looks great to me. This was my thoughts during New York Fashion Week. I was like no Emma shut up no one cares about your opinion on fashion that's stupid. And let me tell you there were some good ones there! (I especially liked the Marchesa show) So now that we're in Paris Fashion week I thought 'RIGHT. Emma you need to suck it up. You were an art stude...
