August: Read, Reading & To Be Read

Image
Hello! My inner bookworm usually hibernates during the school term but recently it's come out like the social butterfly I am! It has been thrilling, so I thought I'd share with you three books; one I have finished reading, one I'm in the middle of reading and one I've yet to read but will start reading this month Read: The book that I have finished reading is The Well by Elizabeth Jolley. I had to read this book for school and let me tell you, it was haunting! It's a Gothic novel and I don't mean Gothic, dress style Gothic, I mean Gothic as in genre Gothic. The book is about an elderly woman named Hester Harper and the young girl she adopts named Katherine (I don't know if adopt is the right word because she sort of just brings her home and labels her as her own) Eventually Hester gets older and so does Katherine and things start to change. Not to mention Hester's sexuality too. No one, even Hester knows what she wants in terms of gender. This is j...

The Best Books I've Ever Read

CALLING ALL BOOKWORMS!! Books make up my life. There is nothing more comforting for me to just sit down in the sun, on a Sunday and read a good book. I hardly get the chance to read because I am a student. That always makes reading so much better for me though. It makes me appreciate reading much more than I normally would. In my years of reading, I have acquired many books which have made me feel like a million bucks. If you're as bookish as me, you know the feeling of finishing a really good book and feeling like you're heart is a little bit more complete. (Maybe I'm just crazy, there's a good chance of that too) So I want to share with you, all the books that have left me feeling a little bit more complete. Books make me too soppy, I'm never like this. 1. Animal Farm by George Orwell This is a classic, you may have heard of this already because it is pretty popular. I had to read this for my English class in year 10 and since then it has been one of my favou...

Mini Haul!

Hello! I went shopping the other day with my friends Sarah and Theresa because it is school holidays and we thought we'd go out and shop before we start all the holiday homework and study we have to do. (Although really who are we kidding, we're probably going to get like 1/3 of it done and then cry). And there are some LOVELY sales still on! The way into my heart is through a good sale! And let me tell you, I fell in love! So I'm just going to share some of the things I picked up because it was really quite cheap and affordable. This coming from a girl with no job and source of income. If anyone is wondering where I get the money from, it's literally because I don't leave the house enough to spend enough money so I have money saved up from my birthday and Chinese New Year and Christmas and all of that sort. And this is actually the first time since Year 12 has started this year that I actually went shopping properly so I went a little cray, I blame Theresa and Sa...

Summer Favourites!

Image
I love summer! Summer is a great season for having a ball! This coming from a dark skinned girl who does not need to tan. Despite that, I love summer. Schools off which is always a plus. I live in Australia which means I'm in summer now (during Christmas). Summers during Christmas mean one thing; SALES. Who doesn't love a good summer sale? Neutrogena Ultimate Sport Sunscreen Lotion: I'm not usually picky about sunscreen but this stuff is really good! It goes up to a 70 SPF protection which is great if you need that extra protection. Weirdly enough this also smells really nice, it's got a bit of a scent to it, I mean the scent isn't very strong but it's a nice scent so that if you're going to the beach and you don't want to use perfume. In addition it is also four hours water resistant, sweat resistant, oil free and won't clog your pores. This works so well for me because I have such shitty skin sometimes that it is great that it's not affectin...
