July: Read, Reading and To Be Read

Image
WJuly is my last month to do some solid reading because university starts in August (which I suppose I should be excited for but I quite like doing what I want) and I've got to sort out other adult things in my life. Don't grow up it's shit. So I've been trying to power read through some books before I get busy. Also I've gotten like a lot of books because my friends got me a heap for my birthday in June. And then I've bought some too...whoops. I have to admit though, I'm not too Read I read The Magicians by Lev Grossman this month. If I'm being honest, I wish I liked this more than I did. People have said it's like an adult Harry Potter, which is true to an extent. There's definitely an R rated dynamic to it but I just found myself disappointed with the book once it finished. This is about Quentin Coldwater who is about to graduate high school and is obsessed with the Fillory series of books (which resembles Narnia very much). He feels emp...

Fendi Fall Couture Fashion Show 2016

Image
I have a confession. I'm a bit of a fashion nerd. That doesn't mean I have any actual knowledge of any actual fashion but I like to keep up to date with what's going on. I hate admitting it but I watch Project Runway a lot. I stalk vogue during fashion week. Every fashion week. I don't know what it is but I love checking fashion shows out. I don't always have the time for it but when I do it's like a magical wonderland for me. However, I really didn't want to do a fashion blog post though because I'm me and I have no actual knowledge on anything fashion. All I know is what I like and what looks great to me. This was my thoughts during New York Fashion Week. I was like no Emma shut up no one cares about your opinion on fashion that's stupid. And let me tell you there were some good ones there! (I especially liked the Marchesa show) So now that we're in Paris Fashion week I thought 'RIGHT. Emma you need to suck it up. You were an art stude...

A Little Makeup Haul

Image
You know I feel about lip products. I think every girl buys too many lip products than they should do. I fit in that category. Has anyone seen that episode of 2 Broke Girls where Max and Caroline have like no money at all but Max wants this damn lipstick. That is my life. Like I probably shouldn't be spending money on makeup, but I am. At least I get a blog post out of it. Revlon Photoready Skinlights Face Illuminator  I use this as a highlighter because it's dark enough to be one for me. It's quite light in terms of thickness of it. It comes on really smooth and has a light shine to it. It's thankfully not that sparkly because it drives me crazy when everything is sparkly. This does glow quite nicely on my upper cheekbones and I really like the smooth texture of this. With this a little goes a long way, you should definitely not be slathering this on because you'll look overly sparkly. If you have lighter skin you could probably pull this off as a bronzer. I don...

The Trylle Trilogy by Amanda Hocking // Discussion

Image
My friend Jade needs to stop getting me into books. I had a TBR set and then she made me read the first book of this series and then I literally stopped everything to read the other books in the series. I finished reading the Trylle Trilogy by Amanda Hocking, or the Trylle-ogy   as I like to call it because I'm so witty. I slightly fell in love with this series. It's definitely not my favourite series ever, there were some faults I could find with it but it kept me hooked the whole way through. It kept me on the edge to the point that I read the whole trilogy in 2 days. This is an urban fantasy series but there are also many contemporary aspects to it which I love because the best fantasy books are the ones that read like a contemporary. This was also a self published series but it was eventually picked up by a publisher which I thought was cool. Non-Spoiler  This is about Wendy who's always felt like she never fit in wherever she went. She's had a lot of tro...

The Bachelorette Season 12 Premier Recap/Discussion

Image
WARNING: This contains spoilers in regards to the first episode of The Bachelorette. Do not read on if you do not wish to be spoiled. Also this contains a 17 year old giving her opinions on said 'love'. This advice should not be taken seriously as said 17 year old is most definitely NOT a trained professional.  I've not been this excited since, well the premier of The Bachelor! So Theresa and I sat down and watched the first episode together and man oh man oh man. I can't watch the rest of the season because our dear friend Sarah is in freakin Italy so we need to wait for her. We only watched the first episode just so I could write this. I'll probably write only a recap for the first episode, a recap before the finale and then a finale recap. I am so excited for this season! I love that Jojo is the Bachelorette. She and Amanda were my two picks and after her whole ordeal with Ben, I'm glad that it's Jojo. Also I loved how when she talks about Ben, sh...

Mid-May Book Haul

Image
I just want to let you know that I'm really missing my red hair this week. I spent a week clearing book shelves because I've got too many books and have a problem HAHA. I'm actually not sure how I have managed to accumalate so many books in one month, but I'll just blame it on my blog and how I needed to put up a blog post! (Now that's responsibility kids). I've read some of the books that I've hauled but not all so some will have more of an in-depth description than others. The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde If I am completely honest, a part of me wanted to read this book because Ben Barnes plays Dorian in the most recent adaptation. So when my granddad came to visit from Malaysia, I asked him if he owned this book and of course my granddad doesn't buy normal books. He buys them in hardcover and coated in gold and all that kind of jazz. Set in the late 19th century London, Dorian Gray is a naive youth who is enthralled by a painting hi...

Brown Rice Salad

Image
I'm not that type of blogger (if you could even call me that) that post recipes and such. Because, if I'm honest...I don't cook. I like my pizza delivered and not in my oven, if you catch my drift. That being said, I feel the need to share this with you because I really love this meal and can actually cook this! (I can actually be bothered to cook is what I mean) So let me share with you, how to make brown rice salad!  Ingredients:  - 1/2 cup of brown rice (I mean really, just cook how much rice you want but for a proper meal, such as lunch, I cooked half a cup)  - chicken (this is obviously optional) - 1/4 cup of peas  - 1/4 cup of corn  - 1/4 of a red capsicum  - 1 chopped chilli (this is optional) - 1/2 of a small red onion - 1/2 an avocado - squeeze of 1/4 of a lemon - sprinkle of salt and pepper - strand of chopped coriander - a bit of lettuce (I mean how do you measure lettuce? You can't exactly say 1/4 of a bloody lettuce c...
